This first version focuses on achieving that classic, dense texture that chocolate enthusiasts adore. The secret lies in using high-quality cocoa powder and not overbaking the batter. The result is a batch of brownies that are deeply chocolatey, slightly fudgy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness.

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth and slightly glossy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined—do not overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
