Easy Air Fryer Chicken Wings Recipe (Asinha de Frango)

Chicken wings are one of those dishes that always bring people together, whether for a casual weeknight dinner, a weekend gathering, or a game-day spread. This air fryer version delivers perfectly crispy skin and juicy meat with far less oil than traditional frying, making it a lighter yet equally satisfying option. With a simple seasoning blend and a savory sauce variation, you can prepare restaurant-quality wings right at home with minimal effort and cleanup. Whether you prefer them golden and dry or coated in a rich, glossy sauce, this recipe walks you through both approaches so you can choose your favorite style.

Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Wings

These air fryer wings come out beautifully golden with a crunchy exterior and tender interior. The key is to pat the wings completely dry before seasoning and to arrange them in a single layer so the hot air circulates evenly. A short preheat and a mid-cook shake guarantee consistent browning on all sides. Serve them plain with a dipping sauce or toss them in your favorite glaze for extra flavor.

• 2 pounds (about 1 kg) chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
• 1 teaspoon fine salt
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (optional, for extra crispiness)

1. Pat the chicken wings thoroughly dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
2. In a large bowl, combine the wings with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and baking powder if using. Toss until evenly coated.
3. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
4. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Cook in batches if necessary.
5. Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 12 minutes, then flip the wings and increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C).
6. Cook for another 8 to 10 minutes, until the skin is crispy and golden and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
7. Let the wings rest for 2 minutes before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.

Chicken Wings in a Savory Sauce

For those who love their wings saucy, this variation takes the same crispy air fryer base and coats it in a warm, garlicky tomato-based sauce. The sauce clings to the wings without making them soggy, thanks to a quick toss right before serving. It is mildly tangy, slightly sweet, and deeply savory, making it a crowd-pleaser for all ages. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve with rice, fries, or a simple green salad.

• 2 pounds (about 1 kg) chicken wings, separated
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
• 1 teaspoon paprika
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 cup tomato sauce
• 1 tablespoon soy sauce
• 1 teaspoon honey or sugar
• 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

1. Season the wings with salt, black pepper, paprika, and olive oil, tossing to coat evenly.
2. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C) and cook the wings for 12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
3. Increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) and cook for another 8 minutes until crispy and cooked through.
4. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat and sauté the garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Add the tomato sauce, soy sauce, and honey, stirring to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
6. Transfer the cooked wings to a large bowl, pour the sauce over them, and toss gently to coat.
7. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
