Kaori Oinuma has been an inspiration to young girls ever since she stepped into the spotlight as a “
Pinoy Big Brother Otso”
housemate back in 2018. It was there that she first opened up about her life as a teenage caregiver, and her determination to chase her dreams.
Fast forward to today, Kaori continues to be a role model, both through her on-screen characters, and in the way she carries herself in real life. That’s why
Kapamilya Chat
asked her to take on the “My Rules” Challenge where she had to lay down her personal dos and don’ts when it comes to friendships, love, money, shopping and more.
On handling her money, Kaori sets aside her budget right away, with specific allocations for essentials like bills and her family’s allowance, followed by savings, groceries, and then a little extra for the things that make her happy. She isn’t into luxury; just small things like books and cute mugs are enough to make her smile.
Because she’s careful with money, her rule when it comes to shopping is to prioritize needs over wants, which is why she rarely goes shopping.
And not one to waste time or money, Kaori’s rule when traveling is to make sure she gets the most out of it. Before any trip, she researches about the place she’s visiting. She prefers to have her itinerary planned out, though she understands things can still change depending on factors at the actual location, like the weather. As a dutiful daughter, she also makes it a rule to always update her family whenever she’s traveling without them.
Kaori has a simple philosophy when it comes to friendship: no badmouthing others. She prefers a light and positive vibe when hanging out with friends. Besides, she believes that if someone can talk badly about others behind their backs, there’s a chance they could do the same to her, so that’s a major deal breaker when it comes to choosing friends.
The Kapamilya actress had to think for a moment when asked about her rule in romantic relationships, and then shared that she doesn’t like constant updates from her partner. Kaori is not a strict girlfriend—a simple message explaining if the other person will be busy and can’t reply the whole day is already enough for her.
And then her ‘palaban’ side came out when asked about her principle when it comes to accepting projects. She said she currently has no specific rules, as she’s open to exploring different genres and experiences as an actress. In fact, she recently ventured into horror with the movie “Untold,” and soon, she’ll be diving into the romance-fantasy world as part of the Filipino adaptation of the hit Korean drama “
It’s Okay To Not Be Okay
.”
