Crispy Fried Chicken Breast Fillet with French Fries and Ketchup: A Comfort Food Classic

There are few things more satisfying than biting into a golden, crispy fried chicken breast fillet while dipping a hot french fry into a generous dollop of ketchup. This is the kind of meal that brings back memories of cozy weekends, casual family dinners, and those evenings when you just want something hearty and delicious. I have been making this recipe for years, and it has become a staple in my home whenever we crave a homemade version of a fast-food favorite. The secret lies in a well-seasoned breading, a quick fry that keeps the chicken juicy inside, and perfectly crispy fries on the side. Let me walk you through how I prepare it, and I promise you will want to make it again and again.

The Star of the Plate: Golden Fried Chicken Breast Fillet

This is the shot that makes my mouth water every single time. The chicken fillet is coated in a crunchy, well-seasoned breading that shatters beautifully when you cut into it, revealing tender and juicy white meat underneath. Paired with a pile of hot french fries and a bright red squirt of ketchup, this plate is comfort food at its finest. The contrast between the crispy exterior and the succulent interior is what makes this dish so irresistible. I like to serve it immediately while everything is still hot, because that first bite is truly the best.

• 2 boneless, skinless chicken breast fillets, sliced horizontally into thin cutlets
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 2 large eggs, beaten
• 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (panko works wonderfully for extra crunch)
• 1 teaspoon paprika
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
• Salt and black pepper to taste
• Vegetable oil for frying
• 4 large potatoes, cut into fries
• Ketchup for serving

1. Start by preparing the chicken. Slice each breast horizontally to create thin, even cutlets, then season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour mixed with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; one with beaten eggs; and one with breadcrumbs.
3. Dredge each chicken cutlet in the flour mixture, shaking off excess, then dip it into the egg, and finally press it firmly into the breadcrumbs so the coating sticks well.
4. Heat about an inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C).
5. Fry the chicken fillets for about 3 to 4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
6. Meanwhile, fry the potatoes in the same hot oil in batches until golden and crispy, about 4 to 5 minutes per batch. Season with salt immediately after removing them from the oil.
7. Serve the fried chicken fillets hot with the french fries and a generous side of ketchup for dipping.

A Close-Up of Crunchy Perfection

Here is another look at the same delicious plate, and this angle really highlights the texture of the breading and the rustic cut of the fries. I love how the ketchup adds a pop of color and a tangy sweetness that balances the richness of the fried chicken. When I make this at home, I always double the batch because these fillets disappear fast. Whether you serve them for a weekend lunch, a casual dinner, or even a game-day spread, this recipe delivers every time. Give it a try, and do not forget the ketchup — it is the perfect finishing touch.
