Whether you're a seasoned home cook or just starting to explore new flavors, this recipe is surprisingly easy to master — and it fills your kitchen with an aroma that will have everyone asking what's for dinner. Grab your apron and let's turn simple ingredients into something truly memorable.

Como Se Faz Caril De Frango?

Great caril de frango starts with building layers of flavor. The secret lies in toasting the spices until fragrant, then simmering everything low and slow so the chicken soaks up all that goodness. This version keeps things approachable with pantry-friendly ingredients while delivering that comforting, aromatic depth you'd expect from a slow-cooked classic. Serve it over steamed rice and watch it disappear.

• 2 lbs (900 g) boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
• 2 tablespoons coconut oil or vegetable oil
• 1 large onion, finely chopped
• 3 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
• 2 tablespoons curry powder
• 1 teaspoon ground cumin
• 1 teaspoon ground coriander
• 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
• 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
• 1 can (14 oz / 400 ml) coconut milk
• 1 cup chicken broth
• 1 tablespoon tomato paste
• Salt and black pepper to taste
• Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish
• Steamed rice, for serving

Como Fazer Frango De Caril?

Once your spices are toasted and your sauce is simmering, the hardest part is waiting. This step-by-step method ensures juicy chicken and a sauce thick enough to coat a spoon. Follow it once, and you'll have the confidence to tweak the heat level and spices to make it your own signature version.

1. Heat the oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
2. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
3. Stir in the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
4. Add the curry powder, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cayenne. Toast the spices for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
5. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for another minute to deepen the flavor.
6. Add the chicken pieces and toss well to coat them evenly in the spice mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
7. Pour in the coconut milk and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
8. Reduce the heat, cover, and let it cook for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
9. Uncover and simmer for an additional 5 to 10 minutes to let the sauce thicken slightly.
10. Taste and adjust the seasoning, then remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro.
11. Serve hot over steamed rice and enjoy every bite of your homemade frango de caril.
