Rabin Angeles revealed that this new character is a bold departure from his previous role in “Ang Mutya ng Section E.”
“Iba dito. Malayo character sa AMNSE,” Angeles shared during the press conference of ‘Seducing Drake Palma,'” Thursday.
“Si Drake, kahit di nagsasalita, malalim. Sanay ako madami lines, dito wala masiyado. Mata mo lang magsasalita. Mahirap po.”
Ariesa Jane Domingo, author of the popular Wattpad novel “Mission Impossible: Seducing Drake Palma,” said Rabin Angeles perfectly matched how she originally envisioned Drake.
“Noong sinulat ko Seducing Drake Palma sa Wattpad in 2012-2013, yung ginamit ko actor was K-pop idol and Korean. Physically pa lang ng sinend ng Viva si Rabin, I was like, ‘Oo nga.’ And when I visited the set, mas lalo ako naconvince we made the right decision casting Drake Palma,” she enthused.
Director Crisanto Aquino, highlighting Angeles’ silent yet expressive performance, agreed that he truly brought the character of Drake Palma to life.
“Ako, when I direct actors, lagi ako nakatingin sa mata. Doon mo makita ’yung emosyon kahit walang dialogue. Una sa lahat, si Rabin—Drake Palma siya. Tama desisyon ng Viva. Magaling siya” he said.
According to Domingo, the adaptation will remain faithful to the Wattpad original.
